Cupcakes for Life was held at Scranton Prep High School, Scranton, PA on October 9th & also at the University of Scranton, Scranton, PA. It was the first National Pro-Life Cupcake event in our area. It was a GREAT success!!! A local bakery in Avoca called Cwikla's Bakery delivered 400 Pro-life cupcakes to each location. Everbody loved the Cupcakes!!! Each was unique with Colorful Pro-life slogans. Students were trilled & very exicted about the event. The Scranton Prep students handed them out during lunch periods; some of the teachers baked 100 cupcakes for the event. The Students for Life at the University of Scranton are running a spiritually adopt baby program & any proceeds from the Cupcake for Life event will be donated to Sr. Anna & her pregnancy program at St. Jospeh's Center. The Yellow National Pro-Life Cucake Day shirts are TERRIFIC. Students were disappointed we weren't selling T-shirts at the event! There is talk of Scranton Prep having a Cupcakes for Life event in the spring.

If you want to call unnecessarily guilting and saddening children a success and God's work, then have a ball. I'm sure you told them how many little kids like them across the world don't have birthdays because they're neglected, abused, unwanted or maybe, just maybe, starving to death? The unborn aren't necessarily the types who would possess the amount of privilege that the children you came into contact did, especially if you deem the mother of the baby who just might have been Little Timmy's Bestest Buddy an immoral person or murderer; what makes you think they'd do a good job child-rearing, much less provide luxuries like birthday parties, if they're so willing to consider killing their baby?

The "opposition" you encountered were not awful people who wished children unhappiness, but if that's what you need to tell yourself to shrug off sound arguments, twist words around to suit you. The bridge connecting both sides of the abortion debate is that all children that are living and breathing today should be happy, healthy, loved, and cared for. Your time, money, and passion would be much better spent combating the gross injustice done to fully conscious children who suffer day-to-day around the world from infinitely greater atrocities than lack of a birthday party. Honestly, this effort is petty, shallow, and presumptuous, and I'd be ashamed to have a movement like this associated with my conviction with its blatant hypocrisy. Get a life and get some damn perspective.

Cupcake day was powerful and encouraging! I got together with some friends and spent all night making cupcakes. Instead of writing "life" on them we put names on them. We gave names to the children who probably never even got named. Then we went to a local festival we were having and walked around in the freezing cold offering people free cupcakes and giving them flyers with information on them. The people were so surprised that we were actually giving them something FREE and not asking for donations. I also think it really touched a lot of poeples' hearts to read the name they got on their cupcake and actually be able to associate them with a child's life. All in all, cupcake day was a success. I can't wait for next year!

We had a HUGE event today. Cupcakes for Life Day was today. We passed out around 1500 cupcakes outside the major academic building and in the Student Center. As Providence would have it, today just happened to be a "Visit Day" for high school seniors and their parents, so a whole bunch of tours came through there, and we were able to give them cupcakes also. Each of the cupcakes was individually wrapped and tied with a ribbon and tiny card attached that read: "Celebrating the lives of the 50 million children since 1973 that never got have a birthday party." Originally, the thought was to pass out 500, but yesterday we were overwhelmed by cupcakes. Individual members of Bradley Students for Life, in addition to various Newman kids, and members of the Kappa Phi Christian women's sorority surprised us beyond measure. As one example, three guys at one house baked us 350 cupcakes yesterday afternoon. Students even enlisted moms and siblings to help reach (and surpass!) the goal. Furthermore, once our chaplain, Fr. Brian Brownsey, found out what was up, he mentioned the event in his homily last night, and talked about the option of Rachel's Vineyard and Project Rachel retreats for post-abortive men and women. God blessed this day in such a beautiful way, so I thought I'd share that with you.
